Built – Week 1

1 – Solid Foundation

What you believe determines how you behave.

Right actions are rooted in right belief.

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” 28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 for he taught with real authority—quite unlike their teachers of religious law.” (Matthew 7:24-29)

Jesus says to his parents, “And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49)

“This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to rebuild it in three days.’” (Matthew 26:61)

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19-22)

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?”  (1 Corinthians 3:16)

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?…” (1 Corinthians 6:19a)
