Real Faith – Week 5

Real Faith: living as the people of God

5 – All about the Family

4/18/18 (HS)

Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.Honor widows who are truly widows. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God. She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day, but she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives. Read the rest

Real Faith – Week 4

Real Faith: living as the people of God

4 – All about Serving

4/11/18 (HS)

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.Read the rest

Real Faith – Week 2

Real Faith: living as the people of God

2 – All about Prayer

3/28/18 (HS)

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. Read the rest

Real Faith – Week 1

Real Faith: living as the people of God

1 – All about the Gospel

3/21/18 (HS)

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope, To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. Read the rest

Before you say “I Do” – Week 5

Before You Say “I Do”

5 – Planning Prevails

3/7/18 (HS)

Commitment Review:

  • One – I commit to pursue God as my one while preparing for my two.
  • Two – I commit to always pursue my two.
  • Three – I commit my future marriage will be about we and not about me.
  • Four – I commit to confide in you and not hide from you.

Temptation: anything that promises satisfaction at the cost of obedience to God.

I commit to resist temptation by planning to eliminate it whenever I can.

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

4 Commitments:

  1. I commit to pursue God as my one while preparing for my two.
  2. I commit to always pursue my two.
  3. I commit that my future marriage will be about we and not about me.

It is incredibly difficult to build a marriage of righteousness on a foundation of sin.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.” (Genesis 2:24-25)

“Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked.Read the rest
