Disaster Relief
Even though the news trucks have left and most media coverage has ceased, the destruction and damages from the devastating tornados from April 2011 that affected the Southeast is still being felt. We grieve the loss of over 300 people and the catastrophic damage to homes, businesses and churches. With any tragedy, the Church has the opportunity to provide timely and helpful response not only meets vital needs, but to show the love of Christ in our care and practical action.
Here are some ways that you can be involved:
PRAY
Don’t neglect the power of prayer on behalf of individual, families, and communities during circumstances like these. We ask that in your personal life, as well as in your family or your LIFE Group that you pray with passion and urgency.
GIVE
First, we encourage you to make a financial donation for disaster relief to our Disaster Response Ministry of the PCA’s Mission to North America (MNA). They currently have teams on the ground and are coordinating relief efforts for the long haul. You can read more and donate online. There are other organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse, World Vision, and the Red Cross. You can also give to Wildwood Church (note that it is for Disaster Relief) and help our teams go and serve.
GO
Our Student Ministry had the opportunity to serve on five relief missions to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi post-Katrina. We have now taken three missions to Tuscaloosa in response to the tornados. We are looking for anyone regardless of age, to join us. We are going to be sending our fifth team on
March 16-21. If you are interested in serving on this team, please fill out our
application. We will leave on Friday after school and return on Wednesday evening.
