30 Hour Famine

Why in the world would students from around the world intentionally go hungry?  You’ll have the chance to join with other groups of students all over the world to go hungry in order to fight hunger.  And in the process you’ll learn the truth about hunger, poverty, and injustice — and how the Gospel overcomes it all with love.

Worldwide, over 800 million people are hungry. Every day, as many as 11,000 children under age 5 die due to hunger and malnutrition. That’s one kid every 8 seconds.  So we are partnering with World Vision’s 30-hour Famine to do something about it — to rise up and serve the hungry.

On the weekend of November 13-14, you will not only fast for 30 hours, not only learn about global poverty and the Gospel, but also raise support for World Vision’s efforts to share the Gospel worldwide through word and deed. Every $30 raised by our student ministry can help feed and care for a child for a month.

The weekend will take you through a variety of experiences.  Worship, teaching, videos, fasting and serving those in need – just to name a few.  And you will also experience the homeless and hunger in new ways as we create our own cardboard tent city to sleep in on Friday night.

* A notarized Med Release 20-21 is required for this event.
