fail: how to ruin your life
4 – Be Dating-dumb
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
The patterns that you practice now in dating will be carried on into your future marriage.
1. You date someone your parents hate.
2. You’re dating someone with no future.
“A lazy person will give you nothing but trouble: they will make you grind your teeth and weep out of frustration.” Proverbs 10:26
3. You’re dating someone with no boundaries.
“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness…” 2 Timothy 2:22
4. You’re dating someone who mistreats you.
“’Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Matthew 19:5-6
5. You’re dating without personal security.
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” 1 John 3:1
6. You’re dating for experience.
“There is a time and a season for everything.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
7. You’re dating to feel complete.
“Hope deferred will make a heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
