Me + You
2 – The Pursuit
Instead or pursuing the right PERSON, pursue the right PATH.
“I came that you might have life and have it to its fullest.” John 10:10
“For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.” 1 John 2:16-17
Crave the truth by pursuing the right path
If you focus on the person, you will likely miss the right path
If you will focus on the path of purity, then you’ll find the right person.
Pursuing the path of purity means actively running from lust.
“Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
“Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, ‘The two will become one flesh.’ But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:15-18
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with…” What? “…lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:27
Lustful intent is to look upon a person sexually or emotionally in a way that desires what it is not covenanted in for.
